Diverse Bharat

I recently saw an ad of Bajaj Discover. The theme of the ad is Discover India and they showcase lesser known places in India. Wow what a concept…!! It’s refreshing to know something different about India, apart from the usual failures in some major sports event (major?!?!), inefficiency at some construction projects or bad infrastructure. And the places shown in ad are really different. Well the places I found really interesting among them are: The magnetic Hill in Ladakh and the Bysanivaripalle in AP. India is a country of huge diversity as seen from the site. Also India is a country of highly optimistic people. It’s very difficult to make an Indian understand a lost cause. This was evident to me from the news during the final match for India in Champions Trophy 2009. Even after knowing that our team had lost one match and drawn another out of their 3 matches in first round, the channels were busy in discovering the unimaginable circumstances under which our team could qualify for semis. This was all under the assumption that our friendly arch rival (:0) Pakistan defeat Aussies in their respective match. Under these circumstances it is no wonder that a statement made by Pakistan captain that he would like an India-Pak final became “Breaking news”. What optimism!! I surely salute the Indian positive approach.

And even with these all qualities we are quite humble. Even when a political leader expresses just his displeasure over the calling Mumbai as “Bombay” in a film (:0), the respective producer humbly (!!) apologizes. I too agree why to call Bom*** by its name…by the imported name (see I am not unnecessarily using the name). Even if it’s in some form of entertainment, it is surely not tolerable. I think it’s better if we start practicing to call our country as Bharat, in case in future someone feels that India too is imported and hence is not allowable. It would be lot easier to start habit now itself rather than apologize later! Now understood why diverse Bharat..!

Say Cheese …: )

Few days ago I was travelling to Goa. We were passing thru the picturesque view of Anmod ghat. I was travelling in the traditional transport, the KSRTC bus. And what a bus it was! (Let us see if ministers /politicians decide to travel by such common transports as “Austerity measures”:0). On the way a foreigner (with his Indian guide) had his taxi parked by a view point. He was busy capturing the beauty of nature in his camera. He turned around and saw our bus. Suddenly he started taking snaps of our ride. Maybe he had never seen anything of the sort or maybe he thought we were travelling in something ancient. He was taking pics with a sense of awe.

I couldn’t help but notice that most of my fellow passengers instead of smiling at the camera were busy in the most common bus custom, spitting out of window. I thought wow, what an image to remember for Mr. Foreigner. The saying “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guests are equivalent to God) looks better scriptures and Ads. (Sorry Aamir, I alone couldn’t have stopped 20 odd eager to spit people from performing their birth right). If I was the guide I would have asked my client to take pics of similar bus and tippers carrying iron ore going at speeds of 70kmph+ in the ghat region.(Very difficult for a inexperienced guy to imagine).

On a different note, Indian government is more concerned about a trial proceedings and a criminal brought to justice in foreign land rather than activities threatening its security at the eastern border. Well what can I say! The government has better intelligence information. Maybe there is some good hidden in these “brief Indian visits”. Anyways I would like to advice Mr. Foreigner not to visit the eastern border regions becoz of these “visits”. And he should not visit the western border if he listens to Indian governments hidden warnings. Also if you decide to stay in central India and wait till common wealth games next year, then think again. Better pack your bags. God knows when these three issues will see some progress or maybe even he doesn’t.

Here I Go....!!

“You don’t have to be great to start something, but you have to start something to become great in it”

Well I’ve started to blog. Hope the above saying becomes true. ;) . Just before I truly start writing posts and my views/ideas/thoughts, I want to draw attention of every cynic/critic/admirer/ fan (let’s hope)/browser/blogger/viewer/follower/…. (Phew). Everyone I wish to tell you 2 things at the start only.

i) “Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. As if this survey matters to us at all. We the genX have long ago forgone the tradition of correct spelling. Its quite evident from our chat lingo, sms lingo. We have pioneered the modern English full of strange abbreviations, acronyms, slangs and words without specificity. The only regret is that this piece of research was not known back during our school days. The countless scolding received and marks lost due to spelling mistake could have been avoided. The dreaded surprise dictation tests, the passage writing could have been tackled more easily. Anyways we can just hope that this piece of information opens the eyes of future teachers and saves the future genX from the above said cruelties.

ii) Grammar, it is the “whole system and structure of language”. That is it is just a st of rules agreed upon to make a language universally usable without errors. Now I being one of the genX ,the rebel am against any kind of rules, Grammar included.

Hence people remember while reading my blogs/posts that:

a.) If you find any mistakes in spellings forget them as most of them don,t matter (see (i) above).

b.) If you find any grammatical mistakes then ignore them as my rebellion (you can also support them by continuing the trend).

Well that’s that for now. Will be back soon with more mistakes..oops more rebellions and thoughts.. :)
